As we approach the middle of Winter, the days are getting longer with increasing daylight, buds are erupting through the ground and on trees, and songbirds are returning to fill the air with sweet sounds of nature. This is a time of rebirth and renewal.
We can synchronize ourselves to the cycles of nature if we embrace our own personal transformation in the moment. Bring awareness to subtle changes in the environment around you. The finer details can be easily missed as we go about our daily activities.
This is also true with our own personal transformation. There may be a subtle shift in your pattern of behaviours or thought processes you are not aware of. Perhaps you sense a heaviness has lifted or you are feeling much lighter and freer. Celebrate any changes you notice!
The final tip for positive transformation involves acceptance. Accept the fact there will be some form of loss. This is inevitable. In order to make room for something new, we must release something from our past.
Loss may involve relationships, routines, or beliefs that were a part of your life. Perhaps there is a relationship that no longer serves you well or a habit of daily living that is not aligned with your current values. Perhaps loss involves dreams, ideals and expectations that keep you locked in pain. There is a sadness that comes with growing even though growth feels good. It is important to acknowledge the past for the lessons they provided. After all, each and every experience is a stepping stone to positive transformation!
Let go of old habits that no longer serve you well. Ask yourself “What am I holding onto from the past? What patterns of thinking do I have that keep me locked in doubt, worry and fear? Which behaviours of mine limit my capacity to succeed?” Bring awareness to old habits that impede growth and positive transformation.
For example, you may realize that you no longer need to visit the local coffee shop everyday to buy yourself a treat, or visit the mall regularly to check out what’s on sale. Perhaps it dawns on you that old ingrained beliefs of scarcity no longer apply. Whatever it is, let go of old limiting habits and simply allow space for solitude and reflection. It is in these moments where change happens and valuable insights arise to keep you on the path of positive transformation!
Maintain positive energy! This is a key piece behind positive transformation. Words have energy, thoughts have energy, and of course actions have energy! Keep your energy fresh and clear like spring water flowing through a meadow.
The laws of attraction reveal like attracts like. This is karma. What you exude is reflected back to you in the world. Maintain a good posture, hold your head up high, and wear a smile on your face. Be mindful of your inner dialogue and let negative thoughts and moods move through you without attachment. Prioritize self care during this time of change and just as a caterpillar transforms into a beautiful butterfly, you too will naturally transform!
Visualize your success. Use your imagination and all of your senses to envision your transformation. Allow yourself to really feel what it is like to succeed. Perhaps you will experience a tingling sensation in your body or a sense of vitality and all is well. You may see yourself engaged in conversations, sharing your excitement with loved ones. Those words may flow effortlessly from you as you feel a surge of positive energy within. Your smile arises naturally and you experience a feeling of lightness as you go about your day. Embrace the power of positive visualization!
Success often comes in small steps. It is a gradual process that can be likened to a dance. You may start out with 2 steps forward, only to find yourself taking 1 step back, then 2 steps sideways before taking another step forward. The lateral steps allow time to regain balance and build strength before moving forward again.
This is the dance of positive transformation. Remember that you are evolving through life and that change takes time. It is seldom a linear path leading you forward. Bring compassion to all of your experiences and soften into the disappointment of stepping back. Acknowledge your humanness and shortcomings. Trust that you are growing and learning. A healthy dose of unconditional love and encouragement will help to keep you headed in the right direction. Slowly but surely, you will witness your beautiful transformation, one step at a time.
What is the biggest gift you can give yourself? Here are some clues:
It is a 5-letter word that begins with the letter ‘t’ and ends with the letter ‘t’. Yes, that’s right, t & t! It’s dynamite and extremely powerful! It can empower you beyond your imagination! You cannot buy it but you can build it. You cannot hold it in your hands but you can feel it. Everyone wants it and everyone benefits from having it.

Trust is the first and most important tip for positive transformation. Trust is the biggest gift you can give yourself to bridge where you are and where you want to be. To trust yourself means that regardless what happens, regardless the number of setbacks or obstacles that come your way, you will be successful. Build trust in yourself one step at a time.
We humans are creatures of habit. Which habits of yours no longer serve you well? Which ones risk future wellbeing? As we approach the end of another year and start a new one, it is a good time to ponder our path towards the future.
Consider your long-term desires and how can you make them happen. Take some time right now to think about what is really important to you. This may have changed from the last time you did this, due to expected and unexpected changes in life. Perhaps a good starting point would be to assess all the changes that have occurred in your life since then. On a physical level, maybe you are an empty-nester now, struggling with an increasingly difficult relationship, or coping with a physical condition that limits your capacity to be active. Or maybe you have achieved personal growth and hold different views and values in life now. Whatever changes have taken place, use them as guides for assessing what is most important for you right now, taking into consideration long-term wellness with advancing age.
As you bridge the gap from where you are to where you want to be, the next few posts will offer helpful tips to ensure positive transformation. Life is a marathon and not a series of short sprints. Patience, compassion and perseverance are key. Like a good pair of walking shoes, the tips to follow will offer comfort, safety, and endurance for the road ahead. Creating change within oneself is difficult but not impossible. Know that you can break old habits and embrace new ones anytime you set your mind to it!
